Palm oil is poisonous in many ways

I know I have already written about The Palm Oil Problem but I had an interesting converstation with my four-year-old daughter the other day and she said a very clever thing again.

We told her why we don't buy any products with palm oil and she doesn't ask us to do so. Of course she would be happy to get all the chocolate and cookies but she doesn't want to eat a chocolate that was made with palm oil (probably not from sustainable plantation) and forests, rare species had to die because of it. 
Don't think that my husband and I are talking to our children about these things in a total adult way and judge us because they only should hear about the Little Mermaid... We only want to raise them to live a better life in a better world and do a better job because it looks to me that our generation doesn't give a shit about our future.

Of course here we are, like me and my family and the other people and organizations but it's just not enough. Because there are way too many "I don't care about the future. I live in NOW and I enjoy my cookies from a plasic bag..."

I hear and read a lot about the fact that these are THE YEARS what we live in now when humanity should stop doing all the stupid things and start doing good and a lot and fast! I wonder what will the future generations say about us when they will have to live in a much harder world only because of us and our greediness. 

So my sweet daughter asked me: "Is palm oil poisonous?" She knows we want to give the best for them and she also knows that we don't buy stuff with palm oil because of deforestation and its consequences. She had a feeling that palm oil makes people sick if they eat it or use it. 

Her question planted a thought in my head. How great it would be if we could say "Palm oil is poisonous!" Which is  not true... But it's not that simple.

What if I told you (or a scientist) that palm oil is poisonous? Would you still buy products contain it? No, of course not. Well, I have some news to you all: Palm oil may not cause cancer to you, your family and friends but it destroys many forests around the world. It kills all the species, animals and plants living in those forests. We need those trees! We need those creatures!

Palm oil is the cheapest oil on the market right now so almost every single company use it to make their delicious products. They make their soap, shampoo and body lotion with it. Even if you buy a bag of peanut they pack it with palm oil! Yes, I just saw that: "Ingredients: Peanut, Palm oil."

I ask you since when does a peanut need to bath in palm oil or any other oil to feel and be oily????? Nuts are already so oily that you eat four and your face gets all pimpled like a teenage girl's. Anyway, please DO NOT BUY products with palm oil. Because if you do, you don't help our planet to get better, healthier. You may enjoy eating chocolate and bags of chips with palm oil but when the next time you do it, please remember  at what price...
